Would you like to turn your hospitality career into a ministry?

Hospitality is an important part of our church life. It’s a way that we can extend love to many people in our city.

And we are looking for a creative cafe/restaurant chef who loves hospitality to join our team.

Tailrace Community Church owns and operates the Tailrace Centre in Riverside, Tasmania. Over the last 12 months we have extended hospitality to over 100,000 people through our cafe / restaurant and our indoor children’s playground as well as through the functions, events, weddings and conferences that we host.

Our central value that we have flowing through  the Tailrace Centre is that “People Matter”, whether they be our customers, our staff, our suppliers or other stakeholders. This is really a simple way of saying that we are intent on putting the command to love one another into practice.

The chef (or experienced cook) that we are looking for would form part of our catering team with specific responsibility for our cafe / restaurant. This would include food preparation and delivery as well as menu creation.

The cafe / restaurant chef would also be required to assist with our Work With No Barriers Program, assisting young people overcome barriers to employment through working in our cafe.

Our cafe opening hours are normally 8:30am to 4pm Tuesday to Thursday as well as Sunday, (with Mondays as well during school holidays) plus Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30am to late.

For the right person, there is some flexibility as to whether the role be full time or part time.

This is a wonderful opportunity for people with a love of hospitality and people who have chef / cooking skills to use their skills and turn their vocation into a ministry.
